SAN FRANCISCO – Brandon Belt brought the San Francisco Giants the great equalizer in the seventh inning with a monstrous two-run homer.
Pinch hitting for Erik Kratz, Belt launched a ball that would clear Lev’s Landing, nearly bouncing into McCovey Cove. This is an unfortunate near miss for Belt as him and Pablo Sandoval are tied for second-most splash hits here at Oracle Park. The king still remains Barry Bonds by a wide birth though silver medal bragging rights are still up for grabs.
This was Belt’s second career pinch-hit home run.
The Giants again put themselves in an early hole as Madison Bumgarner let up two runs in the first inning and then another in the second off a solo homer from Yasiel Puig. This would mark the 44th and 45th first inning run this year. Thus far the Giants four runs have come off of two-run home runs by both Sandoval and Belt.
