Kevin Durant ‘not close’ to returning [report]

The initial hope was that Kevin Durant would be good to go for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday. Now that seems unlikely.

The two-time NBA Finals MVP is still scheduled to be re-evaluated Thursday but is “not close” to returning, according to sources speaking with Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. As of Thursday, Durant’s strained right calf hasn’t been healthy enough for him to return to basketball activities.

“Everyone needs to slow down a little bit on the Kevin stuff,” Kerr said before Game 1. “He hasn’t even stepped on the floor yet. … He still has pain. So there’s some time ahead of him on the rehab process.”

Durant injured the calf during the third quarter of Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals vs. the Rockets, after landing on a shot attempt. The Warriors have gone 2-0 with KD out of the lineup since then.
