Before the Warriors swept the Portland Trail Blazers tonight to advance to their fifth-straight NBA Finals, they engaged in a pregame ritual, which, without Kevin Durant – the usual centerpiece – required some improvisation.
Durant traditionally stands in the middle of the huddle, but with him gone, Stephen Curry had to search for an alternate (apparently using a mop and a ball in previous games, according to Dieter Kurtenbach). Today, Curry pulled a veteran reporter from the The Oregonian, Geoffrey C. Arnold. This was the hilarious result, as Arnold played along:

After the game, Arnold asked the first question of Draymond Green’s postgame press conference. The result was even better than the pregame ritual, as Green offered to pay for Arnold’s ticket to the Finals and the two had a hilarious exchange.
“Are you guys going to fly me down for the Finals?” Arnold asked.
“Absolutely,” Green said. “I’ll pay for the ticket myself.”
“Let’s get together after this is over,” Arnold said.
Green then leaned over to the Warriors’ veteran PR man, Raymond Ridder to confirm the plans.
“Hey Raymond, I gotta buy his flight to the Finals,” Green said, before adding a caveat. “I ain’t paying for your hotel room though.”
“I can do that,” Arnold responded.
