Klay gives classic interview as Warriors presented with Western Conference Finals trophy

Klay Thompson is known for his, let’s say, off-kilter interview style. He’s as genuine a guy as they come, and it often results in an unintentional comedy act when he’s tasked with answering questions.

Whether this was on Doris Burke’s mind when she chose to single out Klay Thompson for a postgame interview with every Warriors player to choose from on a night when he was underwhelming (17 points, 7-of-21, 3-of-10 from 3-pt, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 4 turnovers), is up for debate.

What’s not up for debate is that Thompson delivered. When Thompson picked up the Western Conference Finals trophy, delivered by Tim Hardaway Sr., Burke told him he could put the trophy back down on the table and joked, “You’ve done enough heavy lifting tonight.”

Thompson grimaced, likely recalling some of the 14 missed shots he had, saying, “Uhhhhh,” before Burke moved on to ask about the team’s relentless pursuit of wins.

Thompson looked around saying, “It’s a team interview guys, so feel free to chime in,” before singling out almost every Warriors bench player who played tonight… except for Andrew Bogut.

As he rattled off a list of names, Bogut, standing behind Thompson, muttered, “Boges, Boges, Boges,” and Thompson laughed and added, “Boges, sorry bro, big Boges, everybody. I’m proud of all these guys and we deserved this.”
