Steven Duggar makes astounding diving catch on line drive

Steven Duggar seems to have no off switch. With the Giants trailing 11-2 to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sixth inning of Friday night’s game, Duggar laid out to save what seemed to be a sure hit by Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray.

Ray had already secured his first hit of the season earlier in the game, back in the top of the third inning. He singled in two runs to give the Diamondbacks a 5-2 lead, effectively knocking Giants starter Drew Pomeranz out of the game. That kicked off a series of events that turned a three-run Giants deficit into a disaster of a game.

Trevor Gott replaced Pomeranz and eventually walked in a run before before being pulled for Nick Vincent, who was tagged for six runs over two and two-thirds innings. There was, however, one bright spot: Duggar. Duggar’s effort wasn’t necessary in a blowout game, especially when it put his left shoulder (the same one that suffered a torn labrum last year) at risk, but it gave the Friday night fans a glimpse of positivity.
