TORONTO – The Golden State Warriors are back in the NBA Finals, but for the first time in their recent run of success they don’t have to worry about the likes of LeBron James on the opposite side of the court.

Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakm, Marc Gasol and the rest of the Toronto Raptors gave the Warriors more than they could handle Thursday night in Toronto, cruising to a 118-109 victory in the series opener. Nick Young watched the affair, and decided to sound off on Twitter after his former team lost.

But instead of using the time to give credit to the Raptors, he decided to defend LeBron James – who is sitting out the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

“Kawhi Leonard is cold af but dnt act like bron ain’t ran threw the east every yr it’s like y’all couldn’t wait for him to miss the playoffs,” Young tweeted Thursday night. “y’all better appreciate what that man did for the league.”

LeBron James’ playoff success is well documented. He won his last 24 Eastern Conference playoff series before heading to the West, dating back to a 2010 secound-round matchup against the eventual champion Boston Celtics

The last four years the Raptors have met their match in LeBron James, but this team’s team feels a bit different than years previous – mainly because of the superstar power that Leonard brings to the floor. That superstar power is the main reason the Raptors made the Finals for the first time in the team’s history.

Just don’t tell that to Nick Young.
