The Golden State Warriors tied the NBA Finals on Sunday night at a game apiece. The team now travels back home for Game 3 at Oracle Arena on Wednesday night. Mychal Thompson, Klay Thompsons father, joined the Gary and Larry show Tuesday morning to talk about if he expects to see his son on the court following a hamstring injury during Game 2.

“(Klay) says he’s sore, he’s going to go through treatment all day Tuesday and of course Wednesday,” Mychal began.” You know Klay is a tough guy, he’s proud of his consecutive playoff streak, doesn’t want to break that but understands he needs to be smart about it.”

Thompson continued on his son’s status.

“He reminds me of Kobe. Kobe would not allow nagging injuries to keep him out of games. Klay has that same type of mentality about injuries. He’s going to play, and I would be surprised if he doesn’t play.”

That could be huge news for the Warriors. With Kevon Looney out for the series, and Kevin Durant out for Game 3, Golden State is going to need all hands-on deck for these final few games, something Thompson is anticipating.

“Especially if Klay is hobbled, and KD doesn’t play, I expect to see Steph (Curry), Draymond (Green), and (DeMarcus) Cousins to dominate tomorrow night.”

Mychal Thompson went on to talk about this playoff run and what another championship could mean to this franchise’s legacy.

“If the Warriors can win three more games, based on what they’ve gone through in these playoffs; not having their best player for the last month in Kevin Durant, and now having to bounce through all these injuries in the Finals, if they can win these Finals obviously they’ll be mentioned among the greatest teams ever, but this might be the most impressive championship in NBA history if they can pull this off.”

Golden State will look to take the lead of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night as Game 3 tips off at 6:00 P.M.
