Lowry says fan who shoved him should be banned from NBA games for life

OAKLAND – It was a rough night for Warriors fans, and one sitting courtside made sure Kyle Lowry knew it.

Late in the game Lowry tried to dive into the stands and save a rebound. He lunged into the front row, jumping into people sitting near Warriors owner Joe Lacob. As Lowry was slowly getting to his feet, a fan next to him appeared to shove him, as if he was surprised the Raptors All Star dove in to the stands to get the ball.

Lowry made a case in the moment to the officials, who didn’t stop the game to take any disciplinary measures. He was asked about the incident following the game, and called for the fan to be banned from the league.

“He reached over and put his hands on me for no reason,” Lowry told Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter. “Then he said a couple vulgar words to me and repeated them, repeatedly. But in our league there’s no place for that. Honestly I hope he’s never allowed to come to an NBA game because he shouldn’t have did that.

“There’s no place for that. And luckily they threw him out. I talked to the league’s security already and explained myself. The fans have a place, we love our fans. But fans like that shouldn’t be allowed to be in there. It’s not right. I can’t do nothing to protect myself. But the league does a good job, and hopefully the ban him from all NBA games ever.”

Pretty bold move for that particular fan. It puts Lowry in a tough spot, because if he retaliated in any way the league would have very likely come down hard on the Raptors shooting guard.
