In a surprising turn of events, Kevon Looney will play in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, after being ruled out indefinitely with a fractured clavicle just days before. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr broke the news pregame.
“Kevon’s going to give it a go tonight,” Kerr said. “Further evaluation, second opinion, and then a lot of research. Making sure there’s no long term risk involved with him playing, and it all checked out and he’s dying to play, so we’ll give him and shot and see what he’s got.
“The guy’s just tough and he wants to play. The injury is in an area where it allows him to move well enough to give him a shot to play.”
Looney sustained the injury during Game 2 in Toronto, and was not initially expected to return during the series. The team has defined the injury specifically as a first coastal cartilage fracture. Looney looked healthy enough to play during his pregame warm-up.
