Giants claim former Orioles outfielder, transfer Nick Vincent to 60-day injured list

The San Francisco Giants announced today that they have claimed outfielder Joey Rickard off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.

The 28-year-old hit .203 (24-for-118) with seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and six RBI in 42 games for the Orioles this season. The University of Arizona product appeared in 23 games in right field, 16 games in center field and six games in left.

Originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the ninth round of the 2012 draft, Rickard has played parts of the last four seasons in the big leagues (all with Baltimore), owning a career line of .245/.299/.372 with 98 runs scored, 45 doubles, 19 home runs and 67 RBI in 317 games.

To make room for Rickard on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Nick Vincent has been transferred from the 10-day Injured List to the 60-day Injured List. Rickard will be optioned to triple-A Sacramento.
