Quinn Cook thanks Warriors fans after signing with Lakers

Quinn Cook’s time with the Warriors, while abbreviated, is not likely to go unappreciated. Cook played two seasons with the Warriors after his two-way contract was converted to a full contract for that season and the following one midway through the 2017-18 season. It was a Stephen Curry ankle injury which gave Cook a chance to flourish, showing his value as an NBA player.

Over the last 15 games of the 2017-18 season, Cook started 14 of them, averaging 16.9 points, 4.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting an astounding 51.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range.

Now, Cook has signed a two-year, $6 million offer to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, a team that, while disastrous last season, has now acquired Anthony Davis. The Lakers are set to battle their building-sharing rivals, the Clippers, for dominance in the Western Conference, after the Clippers acquired both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Cook wrote a thank you to Warriors fans on his Instagram, signing off as he does on all his posts, in honor of his late father, Ted Cook:

Thank you Dub Nation for the last two seasons that I will never forget! You’ve helped me grow in so many ways and for that I will always be thankful. RiP DAD!

In the comments, of course, was Klay Thompson, who responded with his own thank you to Cook, writing, “Gonna miss going to battle with u bro one of the best teammates and highest character guys I ever been around Lakeshow got a real one!!”
