Willie Cauley-Stein is very happy to be on the Golden State Warriors. As a rim-running center who lives to catch lobs, the scenario of playing on the Warriors with the spacing of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and now D’Angelo Russell, is something that he’s nothing short of ecstatic about.
“I’ve been imagining it for a while, so it’s crazy that it’s actually happening,” Cauley-Stein said. “Me and my friends talk about it all the time how guys can damn near not guard me now. Because they have to guard Klay, Steph, DLo. How you gonna guard the big? Because, you know, you gotta tag. If you don’t tag, it’s a lob. If you do tag, it’s a three, so pick your poison.”
How long has Cauley-Stein been dreaming of this scenario?
“Years back, before [the] draft,” Cauley-Stein. “I had a Warriors hat before I got in the league, so it’s one of the things that me and my friends have been talking about for a long time.”
Cauley-Stein also explained how free agency went down, and how his priority of “getting paid,” at the start of free agency completely shifted by the end of the year, and that he believes playing for the Warriors can increase his future payday.
