After three years, Kevin Durant has officially left the Golden State Warriors. Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets on a max deal with figures that changed twice after the initial announcement. It was first reported that Durant, who changed his number from 35 to 7 with the Nets, would sign a four-year, $164 million max contract, before Adrian Wojnarowski reported that both he and his signing partner, Kyrie Irving, would both take less than max contracts to allow their third signing partner, DeAndre Jordan, to sign for roughly $10 million a year.
Then, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that Durant’s deal, which came through a sign-and-trade that sent D’Angelo Russell to the Warriors and which ended up being a full max deal, is actually a three-plus-one contract with a fourth-year player option.

While Durant departed, his cooperation and interest in helping both the Nets and Warriors was a key factor in the sign-and-trade deal which sent him to the Warriors. If he did not want the deal done, the Warriors would not have been able to do it and acquire Russell. Today, the Warriors thanked Durant, who won two titles in his three seasons with the team.
