Brandon Crawford goes nuts, hits third homer of wild day

A couple weeks before the trade deadline, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Brandon Crawford demands to play the remainder of his games at Coors Field.

The Giants’ shortstop went wild Monday, following up his 5-for-6, two-home run game with a fourth-inning homer in the nightcap of the Colorado doubleheader.

Crawford teed off on Chi Chi Gonzalez, getting under an 87-mph slider that was down and in and sent it 426 feet to right. It was the back-end of a back-to-back, Stephen Vogt going yard before him, and put the Giants up 2-0.

It has been a historic day for the longtime Giant, who drove in eight runs in the first game as the Giants demolished the Rockies, 19-2. Crawford now has nine homers on the year and has shot his average up from .226 to .239 in one day.
