If they were free weights, they sure cost Hunter Strickland.

The former Giants reliever, who has a bit of history with strange injuries, said he broke his nose Tuesday in an accident with a barbell.

“Broke nose never killed anyone,” Strickland wrote on Instagram. “We have a playoff push so let’s keep it going @nationals This team is special!
*side note: barbell=1 me=0.”

“Haven’t learned your lesson fighting the equipment,” commented former Giants reliever and current Nationals farmhand George Kontos.

Strickland, who last year broke his hand with the Giants by punching a door after a poor outing, said he’ll be able to keep pitching after the barball dropped on his face.

“Obviously, it hit me pretty good, so it kind of dazed me for a second there,” Strickland told reporters Wednesday, via MLB.com. “After that, I looked up in the mirror and my nose was crooked and bleeding everywhere, and I just kind of put two and two together and [realized] I got knocked out by a bar.”

Fortunately for him, he hasn’t gotten knocked out by too many offenses. Since coming over from Seattle in a deadline trade, the righty has a 1.29 ERA in eight games.
