Today: A pair of outfielders in Joey Rickard and Heliot Ramos keep hitting, and a top pitching prospect in Seth Corry just doesn’t give up runs:

Triple-A Sacramento 9, El Paso 3 (Padres). The River Cats are 68-61.

Star: Joey Rickard. There were plenty to choose from — Mauricio Dubon had three more hits, Jaylin Davin hit his 10th homer in 18 Sacramento games — but Rickard launched a pair of home runs, going 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored and three RBIs. This was Rickard’s first big day since his demotion last week, raising his Triple-A average to .350 as he waits for September.

Double-A Richmond 4, Akron 5 (Indians). The Flying Squirrels are 48-80.

Star: Heliot Ramos. The No. 2 prospect has three multi-hit games in his past four after going 2-for-4 with a homer, double and walk from the leadoff hole. The 19-year-old, playing at an advanced level that puts him on the radar for the big-league Giants next year, has begun to figure out Double-A pitching. He was batting .176 with a long ball in his first 10 games. He’s hitting .333 (6-for-18) with a homer and two doubles in his past four.

High-A San Jose 6, Modesto 4 (Mariners). The Giants are 57-71.

Star: Frank Rubio. The 24-year-old righty reliever got the win by throwing two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and four strikeouts to lower his High-A ERA to 2.06 in 43 2/3 innings. The 29th-round pick in 2017 from the University of Florida was promoted to Richmond in mid-May and pitched well until an ERA-smashing blow-up on July 21, when he allowed eight runs in 1 2/3 innings. Still, he’s shown enough to start next season at Double-A.

Low-A Augusta 0, Asheville 3 (Rockies). The GreenJackets are 68-59.

Star: Seth Corry. The 20-year-old lefty, the No. 9 prospect, has not given up more than two earned runs in a start since May 27, a span of 10 outings. His tremendous run continued Thursday, tossing 5 2/3 innings while allowing one run on two hits (but five walks) and six strikeouts. He threw 90 pitches and 50 strikes, lowering his ERA to 1.74 in 25 starts, but also exposing why the Giants are leaving him there to work on his control: That’s 57 walks in 114 innings.

Here’s video of his previous start:

Salem-Keizer 6, Boise 5 (Rockies). The Volcanoes are 40-26.

Star: Alexander Canario. The organization’s No. 7 prospect had another nice night, the center fielder going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. The 19-year-old from the Dominican Republic has killed Northwest League pitching, especially recently: He has multi-hit games in three straight and, since Aug. 3, is batting .367 in 15 games with two homers and eight doubles.

AZL Giants Orange 8, AZL Cubs 5. The Giants are 42-11.

Star: Victor Bericoto. The 17-year-old from Venezuela has looked at home in two games since his promotion from the Dominican Summer League. After going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs Thursday, he’s 5-for-10 with a steal in his pair of games. The first baseman and left fielder crushed the Dominican League, slashing .344/.472/.485 in 60 games.

AZL Giants Black 1, AZL Rangers 2. The Giants are 23-30.

Star: Freddery Paulino. The 18-year-old righty from the Dominican Republic, in his second professional year, threw four scoreless innings in relief, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out five. After his six-inning scoreless start last week, it’s 10 innings without an opponent scoring. His 4.12 ERA is swelled by an Aug. 12 appearance in which he allowed seven runs in an inning.

DSL Giants 8, DSL Tigers 7. The Giants are 30-40.

Star: Rayner Santana. The 17-year-old catcher from Venezuela, in his first pro season, raised his slashline to .291/.440/.552 by going 1-for-3 with two walks and his 10th homer in 47 games. He’s turned it on this month, 16-for-46 (.348) with eight homers and four doubles in his past 12 games.
