I’m ready,” Johnny Cueto said Sunday.

No you’re not, Johnny Cueto’s body told him Tuesday.

It is now “doubtful” the two-time All-Star will return to the rotation this weekend in Los Angeles, Bruce Bochy told reporters in St. Louis following their 1-0 loss, after Cueto experienced back tightness during a side session Tuesday.

The Giants will take another look at the 33-year-old in a few days to try to gauge what’s the next move for him.

Cueto, who underwent Tommy John surgery about 13 months ago, said this weekend it was important for him to complete his comeback this season to give him confidence for next year.

“I just want to feel better. I just want to know that I’m healthy,” Cueto said. “Try and help a team. And then just mentally be ready for spring training next year.”

He had made six rehab appearances, his final one including six scoreless innings at Triple-A Sacramento last week.
