There are multiple Yastrzemskis at Fenway Park.
In his seventh year in the minors, Mike finally made it to the majors this season. And at the tail end of a breakout rookie year, he’s made it to Boston, where his grandfather was waiting.
Carl Yastrzemski made a rare trip to Fenway Park to see his grandson, and the two embraced on the field prior to the Giants-Red Sox game there Tuesday.

“I think I’ve kind of trained my whole life to block out situations and crowd noises and stuff,” Mike told reporters, via NBC Sports Bay Area, “but I think tonight I need to take a step back and get lost in one of the moments and appreciate that and experience that.”
Carl, of course, is one of the most legendary Red Sox of all time, a Hall of Famer, 18-time All-Star and Triple Crown winner. Red Sox devotees will tell you that Carl Yastrzemski knew his way around the Green Monster as well as any Boston left fielder, and he was a seven-time Gold Glover.
Mike typically has played right for the Giants, but Bruce Bochy smiled and said Mike “could” see some time in left for this three-game set. The Giants had not yet released their Tuesday lineup, though Bochy has said Yastrzemski will play all three games.
