Sergio Romo backs petition to rename King Street in honor of Bochy

Some Giants fans — and a former player — don’t think the Giants went quite far enough in their tremendous goodbye to Bruce Bochy.

Before he said his last farewell, the 13-year San Francisco manager hopped in a car and strolled around the park, waving to fans. What if Bochy then drove out of Oracle Park and onto Bruce Bochy Boulevard?

A petition has sprung up asking for King Street to be renamed, and its most notable backer is none other than Sergio Romo.

“What better way to honor one of the greatest managers to ever manage the game than to have the street right in front of Oracle Park named after him?” the petition says. “Bruce Bochy has done so much for the San Francisco Giants and to honor him we should rename King St to Bruce Bochy Blvd!”

The odds are long, and the Giants (and the rest of baseball) seemingly did everything else but name the park and street after him after he managed his final game Sunday.
