The Giants’ managerial search is in full swing.

In addition to interviewing internal candidates and assistant coaches Hensley Mulens and Ron Wotus, the club has also reportedly spoken with A’s quality control coach Mark Kotsay and Royals quality control coach Pedro Grifol, according to Ken Rosenthal. They are also going to interview recently fired Phillies manager Gabe Kapler according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Kapler worked under Farhan Zaidi during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

And now another name has surfaced, with Alex Pavlovic’s report on Monday that the club is interested in former Padres outfielder and current Cubs first-base coach Will Venable.

Venable, 36, also overlapped with Zaidi during his tenure in LA, where the outfielder played his final season in 2016. Venable has been Chicago’s first-base coach for the past two seasons, and is also considered in the running for the Cubs now vacant managerial job.

Zaidi is also attempting to fill the vacant general manager position, though no names connected to that search have trickled out as of yet.
