Wednesday night’s game will be remembered for one very unfortunate reason, but it also marked the official end of a special era.
Beloved Warriors television color-commentator, and former Warriors player, Jim Barnett signed off for the final time on television after passing the torch to new Warriors color-commentator, and former Warriors player, Kelenna Azubuike.
“As I’m ready to step away, Dub Nation, the fans, I appreciate you allowing me come into your homes and bring passion, enthusiasm for Warriors basketball,” Barnett said looking into the camera. “It’s the fabric within me, and I know it is for so many of you out there. I just am grateful for that opportunity. I thank everyone so very, very much.
“And with that, I say thank you again, and goodnight.”
When asked for advice by Azubukie, Barnett’s message was simple and sweet.
“Just be yourself, because you are good enough as you are.”

Barnett served on the Warriors television broadcasts for 34 seasons. When the team was reportedly looking to replace him after the 2013-14 season, an outpouring of support from fans helped convince the organization to keep him around.
Barnett will continue to serve as the color-commentator on Warriors road broadcasts.
