The Giants have a new face in the dugout, but will have a familiar one at third base.

New manager Gabe Kapler announced he’s retaining Ron Wotus as the club’s third base coach heading into the 2020 season at his introductory press conference on Wednesday.

It is unclear who else will fill out the rest of the coaching staff at this point, aside from former hitting coach Hensley Mulens, who has joined the Marlins coaching staff after being interviewed for the Giants’ managerial position.

Wotus, 58, has been a coach with the Giants since 1998, when he was hired by Dusty Baker to be the club’s third base coach. He served as the bench coach from 1999–2017 under managers Baker, Felipe Alou, and Bruce Bochy. Wotus was reassigned to third base in 2018.

Wotus was also interviewed for the Giants’ managerial position but was reportedly not granted a second interview.
