Seattle TV station reports that Vikings, not 49ers, actually won Saturday’s game

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings 27-10 in the Divisional Playoff on Saturday, to advance to the NFC Championship next weekend. Or did they?

According to Seattle’s Q13 News, it was actually the other way around.

“Whoever wins (Sunday) will play the Minnesota Vikings next, the question is where?” news anchor Hana Kim read during an unintentionally hilarious segment on Saturday night as tweeted out by 49ers beat writer Nick Wagoner. “Today the Vikings beat the 49ers to advance to the NFC Championship.”

Kim then openly discussed the possibility of the Seahawks (the No. 5 seed) hosting the NFC Championship next weekend if they beat the Packers, since they’d be a higher seed than the Vikings (No. 6 seed) who apparently beat the 49ers 27-10.

This wasn’t just a case of the anchors getting mixed up, the station actually had a graphic at the bottom of the screen that read “Vikings Win Could Mean Seattle NFC Championship”, meaning this was a gaffe on a much larger scale.

Perhaps the most amusing part is the highlight package featuring two 49ers touchdowns, despite the report that San Francisco was only able to muster 10 points.

Wishful thinking from the station notwithstanding, the 49ers will indeed host the winner of Sunday night’s game between the Seahawks and Packers in the NFC Championship Game next weekend.
