KNBR Account Executive
KNBR – The Bay Area's Sports Leader is looking for entry level Sports Sales Representatives. KNBR is one of the top sports talk radio stations in the country, and has a format monopoly in the Northern California region. This means that clients are eager to advertise with us – on the air, on our station web site, and on our web broadcast stream.
Our Sales Representatives have the ability to offer exposure and association with some of the most prominent sports teams in the country – the San Francisco Giants, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Golden State Warriors. These affiliations provide our Sales Representatives with the ability to reach a wide array of prospects - even those that traditionally don’t use radio.
We have great ratings with the money demographic groups and are a “must” on most institutional advertising buying lists.
Our training system for new Sales Representatives is among the strongest in the market.
In this position you would be asked to solicit, present and negotiate sports sponsorships (San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors), station events, airtime and integrated promotions. Candidates must have the ability and desire to develop new business, strong communication skills and previous sales experience.
You will be required to meet deadlines and sales goals and work effectively with other station departments.
You will be provided with training including:
• Media sales knowledge, including media specific software.
• Special Event selling (Giants Fan Fest, Bridge To Bridge Run, etc).
• Non-traditional and web based sales, including streaming.
Qualifications:
• Two years of outside sales experience preferred.
• Business, Marketing, or Broadcast Degree is a plus.
• Complete MS Office proficiency required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and own a personal car.
At this time, we are able to consider only those applicants who are currently resident in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Cumulus maintains a drug-free work environment and is an equal employment opportunity employer.

KNBR BUSINESS DEPARTMENT INTERN
Business Department Intern, Cumulus Media Partners, San Francisco, CA
Cumulus San Francisco is home to four of the Bay Area's favorite radio stations - KFOG, KNBR, KTCT, and KSAN (107.7 The Bone). Our award-winning stations feature World Class Rock on KFOG; Classic Rock on The Bone; and the best sports coverage and live broadcasts of the Giants, the 49ers, the Warriors, and the Saber Cats on KNBR, The Sports Leader, and KTCT.
Broadcasting from our offices in downtown San Francisco, with great views of the bay and the bridge, we offer an informal, yet business-oriented, environment for the pursuit of musical and professional excellence.
We're looking for a few Business Department Interns for an internship for college credit. While this is an unpaid position, we will work with your school so that you receive college credit for the internship. If you believe you're the right person for this job, please follow the resume submission instructions at the end of this posting.
In this position, you’ll work with our Business Department (Finance, Accounting, and Human Resources) to learn more about the business side of the media industry. This won’t just be filing and stuffing envelopes (although there will be some of that – we all have to do that part).
With the Finance and Accounting departments, you’ll work with A/R and A/P to learn what it takes to keep money coming in faster than it goes out; how to juggle the competing demands of advertisers, sales staff, and the unbending constraints of a 24 hour clock; and gain an understanding of compliance with myriad regulations and government agencies, including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the FCC.
With our Human Resources department, you’ll discover the challenges of navigating three sets of employment laws (federal, state, and local); what it takes to make sure everyone is paid correctly and on time; how to manage benefits so that everyone who’s supposed to be covered actually is; and the diplomacy required to manage 160 people with differing personalities, opinions, musical preferences, and favorite sports teams.
This position requires the following:
- Must be a currently enrolled college student.
- Must have a GPA of C or above.
- Course of study in communications/broadcasting or business administration is preferred.
- Must have good communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Must have excellent office and computer skills.
- Must have flexible hours and be able to work 10 – 15 hours per week, with occasional extra hours.
Sound good to you? Great! Send us your resume and a cover letter letting us know why you’re the perfect Business Department intern.
