Giants reliever Guillermo Mota was suspended Monday for 100 games after testing positive for clenbuterol, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, the Office of the Commissioner announced.
The suspension of Mota, who received a 50-game ban for a performance-enhancing substance violation in November 2006, is effective immediately.
The Giants issued a statement that read simply, "The Giants are disappointed to learn of Guillermo Mota's suspension. We support Major League Baseball's Drug Prevention and Treatment Program."
