The Emerald Bowl and KNBR in association with Cal, Stanford, and San Jose State will host the first annual Bay Area College Football Kickoff Luncheon on Monday, July 28th at Noon at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. KNBR's Brian Murphy will emcee the event. Tickets are available by invitation from the schools, the Emerald Bowl and through Team KNBR. Speakers will include the head football coaches from Stanford, Cal, and San Jose State, top players from each school and representatives of the Emerald Bowl.

2008 SCHEDULE
HEAD COACH: Jeff Tedford
Jeff Tedford is in his sixth season as California head coach and in that time has returned the Golden Bears to national prominence. Under Tedford’s leadership, Cal has climbed into the Associated Press Top 10 in each of the last four years.
The Bears are also 4-1 in Bowl games over the last five seasons, with victories in the Insight Bowl [2003], Las Vegas Bowl [2005], Holiday Bowl [2006] and Armed Forces Bowl [2007].
Tedford’s college coaching career included stops at Fresno State [1992-97] and Oregon [1998-2001]. In his final season at Oregon, the Ducks won the Fiesta Bowl and finished the season 11-1 and ranked second in the nation. Prior to his coaching career, Tedford played quarterback for four teams in the Canadian Football League [1983-88].

HEAD COACH: Jim Harbaugh
Jim Harbaugh begins his second season as Stanford head coach. The 15-year NFL quarterback concluded his initial season on The Farm by scoring college football’s biggest upset, Stanford’s 24-23 victory over the then No. 1-ranked USC Trojans.
Harbaugh came to Stanford after three seasons as head coach at the University of San Diego. He compiled a 29-6 record at USD, winning the Division I-AA Mid-Major national championship in 2005-06.
Harbaugh played for five teams over 15 NFL seasons [1987-2001]. He entered the NFL as a first round draft pick of the Chicago Bears [1987-93], then spent four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts [1994-97]. He spent one year with the Baltimore Ravens [1998], two seasons with the San Diego Chargers [1999-2000] and his final campaign with the Carolina Panthers [2001]. Harbaugh spent the 2002-03 seasons as an assistant coach with the Oakland Raiders.

2008 SCHEDULE
HEAD COACH: Dick Tomey
Dick Tomey enters his fourth season as San Jose State head coach. Tomey’s 2006 Spartans finished 9-4, the most wins by an SJS squad since 1990. The Spartans ended that season with a victory over New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl.
Tomey is recognized as one of college football’s outstanding coaches. His teams at Hawaii [1977-86] compiled an overall 63-46-3 record. Tomey then coached at Arizona [1987-2000] and was 95-64-4 in 14 seasons. The Wildcats went to seven Bowl games with Tomey as head coach.
Tomey served as assistant head coach at Texas in 2004, when the Longhorns won the national championship with a Rose Bowl victory over USC. He went to San Jose State in 2005.
