Baylor replaces SMU with FCS team on 2013 slate

February 28, 2013

Nearly a week after being abruptly dropped from SMU's 2013 schedule in favor of an FCS team, Baylor has reached down to the same level to fill the void in its own schedule.

In a release, the Bears confirmed that the football program has added a 2013 game against FCS-level Wofford.  The game will be played Aug. 31 at Floyd Casey Stadium.

The game, which will be Baylor's first against the Spartanburg, S.C., school in football, will make seven home games for the Bears on their 2013 schedule.  The game against SMU was scheduled to be a home game for the Mustangs.

With the addition of Wofford, Baylor's non-conference slate will not include any teams from a BCS automatic-qualifying conference as games had previously been scheduled against Buffalo (Sept. 7) and Louisiana-Monroe (Sept. 21).  As a member of the Big 12, Baylor gets just three non-conference games as they play nine against teams from their league.
