It was reported on Sunday that the 49ers had a deal in place to trade quarterback Alex Smith.
According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, the 49ers don't have a deal in place to trade Smith right now.
It sounds like the 49ers are desperate and are willing to do whatever they can to draw some interest in Smith. -Teams around the league know the 49ers can't afford to keep Smith for 2013 with his cap number being so high. -Unless they're willing to take a late round pick, they'll likely release him.
