Activity: Mentorship Program

Host/Sponsor and Location: Corporate-wide program
Type of Activity: Establishment of a mentoring program to enable station personnel to improve their skills to qualify for higher positions.
Description of Activity: Mentoring program matched individual employees with an appropriate mentor for an ongoing relationship. The purpose of the program is for employees to develop and expand their skills sets and provide career development opportunities.

Activity: National Association of Broadcasters Radio Show Job Fair

Type of Activity: Job Fair attended by station staff with hiring authority.
Description of Activity: Operated a booth to greet Job Fair participants, answered questions about broadcasting careers and internships, solicited and accepted resumes. "Careers in Radio" DVD presented at Job Fair.

Type of Activity: Participation in activities designed by the station employment unit that further the goal of disseminating information as to employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities.
Description of Activity: Invited individuals from station events and college campus visits to a Career Night. Presentations were made by Sales, Finance, Programming, Engineering, Marketing, and Promotions, discussing the various functions in the operation of a radio station. Participants were given a tour and a visit to the Razor & Mr T program. The purpose was to educate individuals on career opportunities at the stations and in the broadcasting industry.

Description of Activity: Job Shadow Day for Albany High School students. The KNBR Program Director served as the Mentor to the students and provided an orientation, gave an overview of the career options available in broadcasting, and toured the students through the facilities.

Type of Activity: Training provided to management-level personnel on how to prevent discrimination.
Description of Activity: Training to develop and reinforce the behaviors and skills of on-air talent and management team to effectively relate with diverse audiences in different situations.

Activity: Career Day for the Towne School

Type of Activity: Participation in activities designed by the station employment unit that further the goal of disseminating information as to employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities.
Description of Activity: Career Day for Towne School students. The students were given an orientation and watched the "Careers in Radio" DVD developed in-house to educate students on broadcasting career paths. Presentations were made by the different business units (Sales, Marketing, Business, Talent, Programming) and students were given a tour of the facility.

Activity: Emma Bowen Internship Program
Date: June 1 - July 15, 2005

Participating Employees: Human Resources Manager, Director of Business Operations, Producer KNBR
Host/Sponsor and Location: Sponsorship of intern through the Emma Bowen Foundation.
Type of Activity: Participation in scholarship program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.
Description of Activity: An internship program established by the media industry to increase access to permanent job opportunities for minority students. The intern worked full time during the internship and learned various areas of the business, specifically promotions and business operations. Student receives compensation as well matching funds in the form of a scholarship.

Activity: College Internship Program
Date: August 1, 2004 - July 15, 2005

Participating Employees: Internship Program Coordinator
Host/Sponsor and Location: In-house
Type of Activity: Intern program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.
Description of Activity: Ongoing internship program established to provide on-the-job training opportunities to college students where they can learn about career paths in the radio industry. Interns work in the following departments: business operations, promotions, sales, and programming.
