Glad to see the extended hours for Murph, Mac and Gary R. I personally love the local KNBR voices and personalities. One thing I do not understand is all the ESPN coverage and personalities that are hard to get used to, so biased to the east coast and their teams and flat out full of themselves and all their self-promoting. It's tough to be out doing yardwork on weekends and have to listen to all the ESPN blabber,
etc. Keep up the great work. - Mark E.

Being an ex-pro baseball player, I still consider the babe to hold the all-time homerun record. Reason: babe hit 714 h.r.s in 8300 or so at
bats, and bonds is doing it with over 9000 at bats. - Fred D.

I cannot “boo” players retroactively. Bonds is not being singled out. If Sosa and McGwire were still playing today, they would be booed just as heartily. Yes I cheered all three of these guys in each of their pursuits at the time. But now I just feel duped. It just so happens Bonds is the only one I can take it out on now (I don’t go to AL games). - Bryan, Hayward

As a baseball fan, the biggest threat to the game and really the biggest travesty was Sammy Sosa’s corked bat. Bonds is obtaining martyr status and is emerging as an almost underdog. Marvin Bernard used the flax oil too, but the corked bat is an obvious cheat...and that was a non-issue so fast. It saddens me that Bonds has had to stray from his true demeanor to get respect. It's like Ted Williams having to take a bow after his last home run. He could still be a jerk if he wanted and it didn’t matter. Bonds has to start being civil to the media just to get his. It's a sad state of affairs to be sure. - M. Ward

Being a Bay Area native for all of my life (46 yrs. & counting) I find it very appalling that NBA basketball Hall of Famer Rick Barry has not been given serious consideration (by way of a serious contract offer to at least allow him to be afforded the opportunity to accept or decline as he sees fit!) as the head coach of the Warriors. The most insulting issue here is not the remarks made by the nay sayers, the people in the media, or other circles behind the scenes (which are probably the same people that smile every time they see him), who confused his great competative nature as a professional athlete and proven winner to be a man that lacks the tools it takes to lead a team of today's modern athletes in the field of play. This is no knock on the present coaching staff or their predicessors. I am simply of the belief that the people quote un quote in the know really don't know the real contributions this man has given to the sport of basketball his entire life. The habits that currently exist with Warriors are a result of years of being lead by people who either did not know themselves or simply people who lack a winning attitude of character & pride. I will personally guarantee if given the opportunity to be the head coach of the Warrior's Mr. Rick Barry will not only do right by the organization and the bay area community, but the NBA community as a whole. As long as he is a coach of the Warriors, they will be a perrinial playoff contender and will eventually compete and win a NBA Worlds Championship the right way. P.S. In life, there are no shortcuts. Things must be done the right way! - Eric, Modesto

Gary, can you write down 5 ways this ongoing issue with Barry on steroids affects the fans of baseball? I made a list of the top 25 priorities of my life and family. Guess what, the steroids issue was nowhere in sight. We as fans go to the ballgames to watch the baseball players play. Do you think any A's fans thought they got cheated seeing Jose pound them out? Or any Giants fans watching Barry hitting them into the water? Have any fans asked for their money back? The 20 bucks we pay to park our car...the 50 bucks a ticket we pay to get in...the 6 to 10 dollars for a beer. Last time I went to a game, no one was protesting outside of the gate. The only way I feel cheated is when some bush league manager gives his catcher the "Four Fingers" when Barry goes to the plate. Looks like baseball is full of those guys. Do you think we as fans should all stand up? Then all at one time, give him the "One Finger Salute," thanking him for cheating us out of seeing what we paid for? As fans, do we have any rights?! Gary, I am confused on this issue. Seems to me this is just between the ones who complain the most and Mr. Bonds. I feel most the intelligent fans know what it is all about. - Lockman
