Draymond Green’s assault accuser, Jermaine Edmondson, has been granted his release from the Michigan State football program and will transfer to another college.

The incident with the Warriors All-Star was the final cherry on top of a messy situation. Here’s a press release the Spartans issued.

“In discussions with Jermaine Edmondson following spring practice and in the weeks thereafter, it became clear that Jermaine wanted to play a larger role on the team,” wrote Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio. “After consulting with him in the summer, he felt it was in his best interest to finish his playing career elsewhere. We have granted his immediate release to transfer to another institution to have that opportunity.”

On Tuesday, Edmondson’s lawyer alleged his client’s “life had been forever altered” by the slap from Green outside a bar on Sunday morning. Edmondson claims Green and other friends choked him and his girlfriend the night before the alleged assault.

Not even an hour after the news was announced, Edmondson’s former teammates started roasting him on Twitter.

By not dropping the charges, Edmondson drew a line in the sand with one of Michigan State’s most notable and charitable alumni. It’s clear who Spartan Nation is backing in this squabble.
