Despite denials from Eagles head coach Doug Pederson earlier in the week, Pro Football Talk is reporting that Philadelphia is still exploring for a deal for a wide receiver, with talks revolving around the 49ers Torrey Smith reportedly not dead as the trade deadline approaches.

Rumors first surfaced four days ago that Philadelphia was interested in acquiring the 27-year-old wide receiver. Pederson was asked on Wednesday about the possible trade.

“There’s no legitimacy to that,” Pederson said. “And I’m thrilled with the guys we have and going to work with them every day.”

A source told CSNBayArea on Monday that the 49ers are not actively shopping Smith. Like last year, Smith has had a relatively quiet 2016, with just 13 receptions for 199 yards and two touchdowns, but is the type of downfield threat that Philadelphia currently lacks.

The deadline to get any trades done is Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 1 PM PT.
