Rollins: ‘Now that I’m in this uniform it’s like I’m really home’

SCOTTSDALE – It’s been a long road home for Jimmy Rollins.

Rollins was born in Oakland and grew up in Alameda. After spending most of his career in Philadelphia, he spend a year with the Dodgers and a year with the White Sox before accepting an invitation to spring training with the San Francisco Giants.

Rollins joined his former teammate Kevin Frandsen along side Drew Hoffar and Rudy Ortiz on 1050’s morning show The Audible, where he said he’s never felt so close to home.

“It’s all bay love,” said Rollins. “It doesn’t matter now what side of the bay you’re from. Been in the National League so long, played the Giants for so long, going there always felt like home. The cheered for me…but they weren’t cheering for me to beat the team, they were just cheering for the local boy. I got that.

“So hopefully I make the squad, do what I need to do, and they decide to take me out West, and they can really cheer for me.”
