Warriors focused on securing home-court advantage for postseason

The Golden State Warriors currently sit one game ahead of the San Antonio Spurs for the best record in the Western Conference, a spot they have held at the end of each of the last two seasons. The addition of Kevin Durant this offseason coupled with the team’s record-breaking regular season followed up with three straight losses in the NBA Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers has magnified the spotlight on this Golden State team.

Players seem to have different mindsets when it comes to locking down the top seed for the third consecutive season. Draymond Green tried to play off talk of the Warriors being in a slump and needing to push their limits down the stretch to secure home court.

Stephen Curry, meanwhile, reiterated the importance of playing at Oracle Arena during the playoffs and how improving their level of play now will ultimately increase the team’s chances of bringing another Larry O’Brien Trophy back to the Bay Area.

Each player may have a different reaction to the significance of being the number one seed, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to play more games at Oracle Arena, where they have only lost nine games since the start of last season.
