The San Francisco Giants received a bit of bad news from Major League Baseball on Tuesday.

Minor league catchers Ty Ross (pictured above) and Cody Brickhouse were each suspended 50 games for failing drug tests a second time.

A 2013 12th round pick out of LSU playing in Single-A San Jose, Ross hit .224 with 4 homers and 38 RBI last season. Brickhouse, 20, is in Arizona playing rookie-level ball to start 2017.

Aramis Garcia is widely considered the top catching prospect in the Giants’ minor league system and was invited to spring training this season.

There have been 19 suspensions this year under the minor league drug program. Three other players received suspensions on Tuesday. It wasn’t announced what banned substance Ross and Brickhouse took.
