Ramey: Quakes need to be more clinical in the final third to win games

Looking toward their last home game against FC Dallas, Ted Ramey says the San Jose Earthquakes need to improve their opportunities for goals before traveling to New England, Houston, and Minnesota next weekend.

Defense hasn’t been a problem for the Quakes this year. It’s on the offensive front where the team has missed chances to score that resulted in them dropping points last weekend against Seattle. Friday serves as a challenging opportunity for the Quakes to sharpen their offense against a very dynamic, fluid team.

“They’ve missed opportunities to finish,” Ramey said. “They are creating far more this year, but they’re not finishing them off… If they can get 3 points Friday night, that would be huge for the Earthquakes but it will be entirely dependent on whether or not they are able to finish those opportunities and put the ball in the back of the net.”

Make sure you tune in to the Earthquake’s official radio home, KNBR 1050 to listen to Friday’s game against Dallas, as well as the rest of the games this year.
