SAN FRANCISCO-The Giants placed left fielder Jarrett Parker on the 60-day disabled list following a spectacular catch where he crashed into the wall and broke his collar bone.

In the absence of Parker San Francisco has recalled left handed reliever Steven Okert from Sacramento. Okert will give the giants another south paw option out of the bullpen behind swingman Ty Blach.

The Giants have a few off days over the next week and with an American League series approaching in Kansas City they won’t have the need to make as many late game switches to the lineup, thanks to the DH. There’s speculation that Buster Posey will be back this week but manager Bruce Bochy says he doesn’t plan to use him until he’s ready to catch. The Giants could also turn to Kelby Tomlinson in Sacramento who spent some time in left field in 2016.
