SAN FRANCISCO – Brandon Crawford suffered a right groin strain Monday night against the Dodgers. Bruce Bochy said the shortstop is currently day-to-day.

After smacking a single through the hole in the 8th inning against the Dodgers, Brandon Crawford grabbed at his groin as he rounded first base. He was taken out of the game, as Jeff Samardzija was brought in to pinch run.

“Just felt tight,” Crawford said after the game. “Didn’t feel a pop or anything like that so from what I hear that’s good news.”

Bruce Bochy said in his postgame press conference that he’d consider Crawford day-to-day.

Crawford is leaving the team for at least the final two games of the Dodgers series (Wednesday and Thursday) to attend the funeral of is wife’s sister Jennifer Pippin, who died just under two weeks again from an asthma attack. Bochy said pregame Tuesday that the shortstop might also miss the opening game of the Giants series with the Padres on Friday night.
