The bomb proved to be the game winner, as the Giants beat the Padres in the first game of the series 4-3.
Not only did Arroyo hit the go-ahead solo shot in the 8th inning, but he showed his defensive flexibility by sliding over from third to play shortstop for Brandon Crawford, who didn’t play on Friday.
