Left-handed pitcher Ty Blach has made just seven career starts, and three have come against the Dodgers. There’s no quicker way to the hearts of Giants fans than posting successful numbers against Los Angeles, and Blach has quickly shown that he can pitch well against the division rivals.

Thanks to seven strong innings Tuesday night, Blach lowered his career ERA against Los Angeles to 1.17 in 23 innings. On The Audible on Wednesday morning, Blach said he doesn’t change up his approach or mindset based on the opponent, but noted that the extra energy in games against the Dodgers definitely helps him be sharper.

“There’s a little more energy against those guys with that rivalry and knowing that right now we’re trying to catch them in the division and make up some ground,” Blach said. “So every game we play against them seems to be a big game, so you want to go out there and you want to give your team the best chance you can so you try to stay locked in on every pitch.”

Blach went on to discuss the Giants’ current five-game winning streak and what he thinks is going right for the squad right now. He said the solid all-around performances in the past two series against Los Angeles and Cincinnati have the clubhouse feeling positive as the team moves into the second half of May.
