Bryce Harper throws helmet at Hunter Strickland, benches immediately clear

SAN FRANCISCO – After eight innings of boring baseball, the game between the San Francisco Giants and the Washington Nationals got very, very interesting.

In the top of the 8th inning, Hunter Strickland beaned Bryce Harper in the hip. Harper took offense to that, and charged the mound. On the way, Harper threw his helmet at Strickland. Both benches immediately cleared.

You can check out different angles of the footage below from John Middelkauff and NBC Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic.

There is some history between Strickland and Harper, as the slugger hit two home runs off Strickland in the 2014 NLDS. Also of note in the incident, Jeff Samardzija and Michael Morse appeared to bump heads rather hard when running to join the fracas, but Morse stayed in the game.

More to come, keep it locked on KNBR.com.
