Richard Jefferson on the loss: ‘A lot of it had to do with our turnovers’

OAKLAND-Thursday night the Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in a stellar 113-91 win.

The Warriors impressive 22 point win in Game 1 of the NBA finals came on the back of a strong offensive performance by Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry.

“This is Game 1 so we feel like we have an opportunity to go and get Game 2,” Cavaliers small forward Richard Jefferson said after the game.

But it wasn’t all offense that lead to the Warriors winning their Game 1 post season rematch. The Warriors took advantage of the Cavaliers surprising 20 turnovers.

“I wouldn’t even say it was defense. I think a lot of it had to do with our turnovers,” Jefferson recalled. “When you turn the ball over twenty times…[you] give them easy buckets and that opens up the game for them. We put them in the position to go score the ball”

The Warriors conversely tied the all-time NBA single-game low with just turnovers at 4. The gap in turnovers combined with a tight defense lead to a large point spread by the final buzzer.

The Warriors play Game 2 of the NBA finals this Sunday at 5p PST in Oakland.
