Chauncey Billups is expected to emerge as a top candidate to replace Griffin, who had served as the Cavs GM for the past three years. However, conflict over the future of the team led to Griffin’s departure.

Billups, who has a relationship with head coach Tyronn Lue, will be considered for President of Basketball Operations. He played 17 seasons in the NBA, winning one championship with five all-star selections. He currently serves as an NBA analyst for ESPN.
The Cavaliers have been reported as possible trade suitors for Paul George and Jimmy Butler in the past two days, so whoever they pick for their next general manager could have some major decisions on his hands in the early going.
