OAKLAND – Jeff Samardzija has spent a fair amount of time playing in the Oakland Coliseum. He spent half the year as a member of the Athletics in 2014, and has visited the stadium the past two years as a Giant.

“Hunter’s was impressive,” the shark said of Hunter Pence’s three-run opposite field home run after Tuesday’s 10-4 win at O.Co. “I’ve played here for a while, and I haven’t seen too many balls in cold nights like that go oppo-field to right center. That wasn’t down the line, he hit that pretty well.”

“I’m trying to give everything I can every at bat,” Pence said after the game. “I had two balls I hit good, one of them happened to be a hit. Sometimes you don’t hit the ball good and you get big hits and sometimes you hit the ball good and you get out.”

Pence wasn’t the only player to go deep on the night. Nick Hundley, playing as a DH, went yard to score the 4th and 5th runs of the first inning for the Giants. Brandon Belt also went yard to right in the 4th.

“It was good to see (Belt) get off 16,” said manager Bruce Bochy. “He’s been sitting on that one for a while. But it was good to see how we swung the bats.”

The teams travel across the bay Wednesday to play the final two games of this year’s Bay Bridge Series.
