Stephen Curry receives zero votes for ‘favorite player’ in NBA Rookie Survey

Thirty-nine rookies entering the NBA this season were asked who their favorite player in the league was.

Surprisingly, not a single vote was cast for Stephen Curry. The two-time MVP received votes in the 2016-17 poll and finished in fourth place for the 2015-16 rookie class, but was left off entirely this year.

Coming off his second championship in three seasons with a freshly inked $201 million contract, it’s fair to assume that Curry isn’t fretting over how rookies feel. Regardless, it still is a bit odd to see a player who has revolutionized the game like Curry has to not receive a single vote.

Curry’s teammates Kevin Durant and Draymond Green tied for 5th place, each receiving 5.6% of the vote. It’s the first time Green has received votes from an incoming rookie class. Durant has been a perennial favorite among the league’s young players, being voted the rookie class’ favorite player each of the prior two seasons.

Jordan Bell – whom the Warriors acquired in the 2017 NBA Draft – received recognition from his peers. The University of Oregon alum was voted as the fourth biggest steal in the draft with 10.8% of the vote, and voted as the second best defender – behind the Suns’ Josh Jackson – with 23.7% of the vote.
