Donald Penn reinstated to Raiders active roster

Donald Penn has been reinstated to the Oakland Raiders’ active roster.

Penn did not report to training camp on July 28 and continued his holdout until Tuesday, in hopes of signing a new contract.

There still isn’t a new deal in place for Penn, but the Pro Bowler reported to practice on Wednesday. Penn was in full gear when he joined his teammates for warmups.

Penn had a strong 2016-17 season, allowing only one sack while protecting Derek Carr’s blind side. That sack, however, resulted in Carr fracturing his right fibula.

Penn has started in every game since joining the Raiders prior to the 2014-15 season. Oakland’s left tackle was the only player on the roster with a contract holdout. Penn is seeking a raise from the $5.8 million he’s scheduled to make in the upcoming season.
