Steph Curry has a message for the National Football League.

Prior to Sunday’s season-opening matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers, Curry posted an Instagram story with the caption, “#freekaep,” in reference to former 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

A long-time Panthers fan, Curry was in attendance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara to watch his favorite team open their season against the 49ers.

Curry has spoken out in support of Colin Kaepernick, who remains a NFL free agent despite the fact a number of teams around the league have uncertain quarterback situations.

Last fall, in an interview with CNBC, Curry said that he applauded Kaepernick for taking a stand with his anthem protests, and that he loves that freedom of speech allows Kaepernick to stand up for what he believes in.

“Hopefully it will drive the conversation to the bettering of the equal rights and and treatment of African-Americans and people of color,” Curry told CNBC on September 7, 2016.
