Draymond pissed Warriors didn’t sweep Cavs: ‘They didn’t stand a f-ing chance’

Draymond Green gave an extremely colorful and profanity-laced interview, even for his standards, in the latest issue of GQ magazine.

Green begins the piece, which can be read here, by giving his take on what he believed the Cavs’ chances were to upset the Warriors in the NBA Finals last season, like they did in 2016.

“They didn’t stand a fucking chance,” he says of the Cavs, who lost in five games. “It pissed me off we didn’t sweep them, though.”

Green mentions that it took a record setting effort for the Cavs to avoid a sweep, and the only thing that stopped the Warriors from going down as the only team to go 16-0 in postseason history.

“That’d never been done!” Green exclaimed. “They don’t come out and hit twenty-four threes and they’re swept. And that’s the second best team in the world. It’s pretty fucking sick to see how everybody is just in a fucking panic about what to do. You sit back and think, like, these motherfuckers, they know. That’s the fun part about it: They know they don’t stand a chance.”

Green then turned his attention to Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, and his comments this offseason that the Warriors are not unbeatable, and that the Rockets had something up their sleeve (the signing of Chris Paul).

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Green says to author Clay Skipper. “They are really trying to rethink their whole strategy”—here he bumps a table repeatedly with his hand for emphasis, getting excited—“because teams know they don’t have a fucking clue.

“Just because you compile a team of superstars don’t mean it’s going to work, because it’s a lot of ego,” Green said. “And we just happen to have a perfect group to where it works. You can’t be that good without ego. But it’s not an ego in the sense of: I need this shot, I need that shot. Ego in the sense of: We’re fucking good. Damn right we are.”

We hope Draymond continues to give more incredible one-on-one interviews like this in the future.
