Derek Carr will make his return against Chargers this Sunday [report]

After fracturing a small bone in his back during the Raiders’ 16-10 loss in Week 4 to the Denver Broncos, quarterback Derek Carr was expected to miss two to six weeks. Two weeks later he will start against the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday after being a full participant in practice today, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.

Luckily for the Raiders, who are coming off their bye week, Carr missed only one game. In his absence, EJ Manuel’s efforts came up short against the Baltimore Ravens. Manuel managed to score a touchdown, but put up just 159 yards and 13 completions as the Raiders lost 30-17.

His return came right in the nick of time for the Raiders, who are preparing for one of the toughest stretches in their schedule this season. After the Chargers, the Raiders hit the road to face the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins before hosting the New England Patriots and a rematch against the Broncos in Week 12. The Raiders hope Carr can snap their three-game losing streak and bring them to an even 3-3 record.
