Without fullback Kyle Juszczyk out with a back injury, the 49ers activated from San Francisco City College tight end Cole Hikutini for the first time this season. Since tight ends like Garrett Celek and Logan Paulson are likely to play fullback, which could open up an opportunity for Hikutini.
One of the final cuts from training camp, Hikutini was signed to the practice sqaud at the start of the season. Last year, the pass-catching tight end was a main target for quarterback sensation Lamar Jackson at Louisville.
Hikutini could get a surprising amount of opportunities. The leading receiver against the Redskins in every game has been the tight end.
